Born in South Sudan, Nhial grew up in Western Ethiopia until age 11, when militia attacks forced him to flee alone. After two weeks on foot and separated from his mother and siblings, Nhial arrived in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya. There, he became a youth leader and founded grassroots programs that have empowered over 25,000 young people through leadership, education, sports, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. His key initiatives include SheLeads Kakuma, promoting gender equality for girls and women, and the Kakuma Book Drive, a global effort to provide 10,000 textbooks and laptops to refugees.
A passionate storyteller and advocate, Nhial uses his experience and storytelling to inspire action on peace, human rights, education, climate change, gender equality, and humanitarian issues.
Presently Nhial studies in Toronto, Canada.
