David Silva was born into a third culture lifestyle as his mother is from the US, his father is from Ecuador, and by age two, he was living in Paris for his first of many international moves. David has an identical twin brother, and both were diagnosed on the autism spectrum when they were three years old.
After receiving intensive early intervention services for autism in the United States between ages 3-5, his family returned overseas, first living in South Africa, then Venezuela, Serbia, Uruguay, Uganda, and Geneva. David most recently spent three years in the Netherlands living mostly independently while attending university, but has decided to take a break and return to live with his parents.
He hopes to study in the United States next year. David will talk about his experiences as an autistic third-culture kid, and how so many international experiences have affected him, both positively and negatively.
