Mahmoud was born and raised in Jerusalem and lived in London for a while to finish his studies. He is a computer science graduate, trained communicator and currently mostly known as the bookseller of Jerusalem. He helps running the family’s two bookshops, the famous Educational Bookshop (which recently hit the international headlines when it was stormed by the israeli police who arrested Mahmoud and his cousin) and the prestigious Bookshop at the American Colony Hotel in occupied East Jerusalem.
Mahmoud will share the story of the Educational Bookshop and what it means to maintain such an important cultural hub under the brutal israeli occupation.
