Tina Lain, Forgotten Parks: Empowering communities and protecting wildlife

Christine (Tina) Lain, brings years of expertise in sustainable natural resource management through her work with IUCN NL, the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization.

Tina has spent over 15 years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), working with protection of wildlife and empowerment of local communities.

On a mission to establish a real participative conservation, she is currently serving as Director of Forgotten Parks ASBL (FP-DRC), and Site Manager for one of the oldest protected areas in Africa, the Upemba National Park (UNP).

Tina will share her experiences working with “forgotten parks”, the challenges faced, and the strategies employed in the fight against poachers, and navigating the complexities of the DRC security context.
